COL D'ORCIA is the internationally celebrated producer of one of Italy's most revered red wines, Brunello di Montalcino. Situated on the outskirts of the medieval hilltop village of Montalcino in Tuscany's Siena province, the estate has a rich winemaking history dating back to the 1700s. Col d'Orcia is owned today by Count Francesco Marone Cinzano, who also serves as current president of the influential “Consorzio” of Brunello producers. Day-to-day operations are directed by Edoardo Virano.

Winemaking at Col d'Orcia is entrusted to chief enologist Pablo Harri, whom many contemporary wine experts credit with being one of Tuscany's foremost exponents in the art of making outstanding Brunello di Montalcino wines. Maurizio Castelli serves as consulting enologist.

Col d'Orcia embraces 1,300 acres in Montalcino (one of this area’s largest properties), 370 acres of which are planted to vine. The vineyards, located in the hilly region between the Orcia river and Sant'Angelo in Colle, are dedicated primarily to a special clone of Sangiovese . Locally referred to as Brunello, this grape variety comprises the region's renowned wine. The area's limestone and marl soil composition facilitates natural irrigation, while the estate's southern orientation provides the vines with exposure to abundant sunshine.
